Cara Angel Signs with Arkansas
Melbourne guard to play in SEC
Melbourne's Cara Angel signed with NCAA Division One Arkansas of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) on April 22nd. Angel, at 5'10", can play at the point or shooting guard spot.
Angel currently plays for the Melbourne Tigers in the Big V League. She was an All-Australian selection in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. She was a member of the Victorian State U16 Team (2002 Gold), the U18 Team (2004 Gold, 2005 Bronze) and the U20 Team (2006 Silver, 2007 Gold). She competed in the Australian Youth Olympics in 2005 and won the 2007 Female Junior Basketball Vocation and Junior Award. The Arkansas Ladybacks finished last season with a 17-13 record, including 2-13 in SEC play. They qualified for the Women's NIT, but Head Coach Tom Collen opted not to play in the tournament, citing injuries as the main reason. The team was down to eight scholarship players at the time. |
