ADONIS JORDAN PROFILE
Adonis Jordan

I, Adonis Jordan, was born in Brooklyn, New York. My mother named me after the Greek mythological character “Adonis” - a handsome young man who was fabled to be the love interest of the goddess Aphrodite. My mother worked two jobs while I spent most of my time playing baseball and pick-up street basketball on the Brooklyn blacktop courts. My mother moved me to Yonkers, New York and enrolled me at Theodore Roosevelt High School. Although the decision necessitated a 45 minute commute each way, my mother knew I would receive an education in a safer environment compared to schools in the Brooklyn area we lived. I played high school basketball at Roosevelt High and blossomed in my second year, being one of only two sophomores named to the New York All-City team. The other player, being Kenny Anderson, was one of the best guards to ever come out of NYC.

My stay in New York was cut short when my mother decided to relocate us to Los Angeles, California in 1987 to get me away from a drug infested area where we lived. At the time I didn’t want to leave New York. All I can hear my mother saying to me was, "if you're good here, you will be good there and anywhere". But to me, it was like moving to Mars. So we moved from one coast to another, east to west.

I transferred to Cleveland High School in Reseda, California and joined future NBA veteran Lucious Harris as stars of the school's varsity basketball team. I became a big factor on the Cleveland High Cavaliers' squad, playing big roles on offense (averaging 23.8 points a game) and defense (averaging 5.9 steals per game). At the start of my senior year, I was considered one of the state's top point guards and was named among the nation's 50 top-rated high school seniors. I completed my final high school season leading the Cavaliers to a 23–3 record and to the quarterfinals of the City Section tournament while earning back-to-back Valley 4-A All-League First Team recognition. I was recruited by many colleges to come and play at their schools but I choose to sign with the University of Kansas. At the time, Kansaswas suffering from NCAA sanctions that stemmed from recruiting violations under former coach Larry Brown. Though the scandal dissuaded other high-potential high school prospects from attending Kansas, I nonetheless decided to take a chance with the school after I was impressed by the university's friendly and personal atmosphere. It was more of a family-type atmosphere there than a business. By that, I mean the other places I visited didn't feel like home. In Kansas, the people there welcomed me with open arms.

I came off the bench during my freshman season to help lead Kansas to a record of 30–5 under our first-year and now, Hall of Fame coach Roy Williams. I got the starting position the following season and led the team to 25–7 and the 1991 Final Four. I averaged 12.5 points and recorded 151 assists that season. Two years later, I led the Kansas Jayhawks to further success when we captured the 1993 Big Eight Regular Season Championship with a 27–8 record and led the team to our second Final Four appearance in three years (though we eventually lost to North Carolina in that tournament, which was my last college game). I left a legacy with Kansas in holding the Jayhawks number-six spot for most assists in the school's history and being ranked 22nd on the school's all-time scoring list. In my fours years at Kansas we had 113 wins and only 27 loses with three Conference Titles and two Final Fours!

After college I was drafted #42 by the Seattle Supersonics in the NBA Draft. I also played with the Denver Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks and for several International teams expanding across the globe, starting in Australia in the Australian National Basketball League with the South East Melbourne Magic. I continued my career and now play in many countries: Israel, France, Germany, Belgium, Venezuela, Korea, China, Finland and Russia.

I have accumulated over 10 years of NBA and international experience and learnt from some of the best coaches around the world. I served as assistant coach for Samsung in the Korean League. I have trained and helped student athletes become successful on every level and know how to get you there.

I believe, when the game is on the line, you only have ONE SHOT!

Will you be ready?
